Shrimp garam masala
Garam masala means warm spice mixture . Very aromatic, it consists of spices known to warm the body . Dry masalas is from northern India and is composed of bay leaves , cardamom , cinnamon, ginger, mace and nutmeg, all considered warm spices . Garam masala can be mixed with ghee ( butter) or soupoudrés on a dish before serving . in south India masala are stronger and are composed of crushed fresh chillies , ginger and onions.
Recipe: Shrimp with garam masala
Ingredients (for 4 people)
600g raw shrimp
minced garlic ( one clove )
chopped fresh ginger (about 2cm cubes)
red onion 250 ml
( 1 cup) coconut milk 50 ml
( 3 c . Tbsp) vegetable oil 10 ml
( 2 tsp. ) Garam masala 5 ml
(1 tsp. ) Curry powder 5 ml
(1 tsp. ) Ground coriander
vegetables (carrots, celery , cauliflower )
Shell the shrimp. Mix in a bowl with the garlic, ginger , onion , vegetable oil and spices. Marinate in refrigerator for several hours.
Cut the vegetables into slices. Drain shrimp and keep the marinade with vegetables. Cook shrimp for 2 minutes on each side. Cook the vegetables in a pan for about 7 minutes, or until tender. Serve shrimp and vegetables with basmati rice or naan bread.
